1850 CSM list: Tough? You decide

Played in an 1850 tournament recently and got 3rd place ( i actually could have got best painted too but you cant win 2 prizes). I was very suprised at how great the daemons in the csm codex are. Ive had much practice with this list and ive played against all the armys that i thought would give me a hard time. IG in kill points games seem to really be the only thing thats hard for me to handle. In that situation i really need to go first, but overall this is a list where going first or second dosent really matter. Everything works well together in this list. No weak links. To up this to 2000 i would just add a noise marine squad with a blastmaster. Another fearless unit and another str 8 48" shot. Everything in my army is fearless (except the havocs but they have an icon). It covers every aspect that an army needs (long range, mid range, close range) so its really balanced. Im currently 4-1 with this list with the 1 being that KP game vs ig a rematch is def. needed.

i got 55$ in store credit so i picked up this guy. I saw him on the GW website and the first thing that came to mind was KHARN. So this is my kharn now i just got to paint him.

and i picked up a chaos warriors set. Chosen is what i have in mind for these.

With #2 down and my Greater Daemon done, I can finally focus back on my other squads. For this guy i used skull takers head on the old daemon prince body, and the new plastic daemonprince wings and arm. Couldnt think of how to paint the sword so i left it black...for now.

Epidimius will be my greater daemon as he is one of the coolest models in my opinion.

Heres my finished scratch built Oblits. Built them a long time ago but im now finishing them up. Its crazy what you can do with a whole bunch of extra guns! Also, their on my new bases i made from cork. Looking at them now, i think im gonna highlight the weapons with mithril silver to make them pop more.

Another low blow to chaos with this new FAQ. Im very dissappointed in GW. Its not like chaos was overpowered or anything, why make some of their best powers worse? Hitting on a 2+ with Lash isnt bad but the fact that we need to roll to hit at all is not fair. All the psycic hoods every one gets and now we have to worry about that, hitting, and not failling the psycic test.
As for warptime, come on. Now we HAVE to re roll all hits and wounds or not all? Why? It defeats the purpose of chaos having psycic powers if every other army is better than them at it.
Seriously.

Im not gonna let this affect me though! Im a chaos player blood in blood out and i will keep playing them no matter what.

Lets just hope for a good quality codex soon...

Chaos Army Update: W.I.P Daemon Prince #1

Just a small update. I took a break from painting my squads to do one of my two Daemon Princes that are gonna be in the army. I dont know if you can tell, but this was one of my first attempts at making an Angron model. I used guitar wire to represent the cables in his head. The old deamon princes look better in my opinion. The plastic ones look like they came from a cartoon. No base yet because im planning to either get a resin base, or make my own using cork or something, I dont know yet.

Second squad is pretty much done, i just have to add some details here and there but im finished for the most part. Im gonna have some chaos writing on the "un"purity seals and im gonna do a little freehanding on the shoulder pads These are not the bases theyre going to have. Im getting some resin bases for them. If anyone has some bases( 20-30 would be nice) they would like to sell for a reasonable price i would be interested in buying some!

This guy im not so sure about. I might just paint the blue parts to match the rib cage / spine thing.

It could work, right? The Spawn are the biggest distraction and the two rhinos can try and capture objectives if needed, and the D.Prince is there to lash things towards the spawn. Now thinking about it i could take out some spawn for some anti tank or more troops but this is the list for now.

B) Do you hit and then roll for pen and it just stops there.

My New Way of Painting Red

I asked black matt what colors he thought would be best for making red pop. The colors we came up with were red gore, blood red,and blazing orange. It turns out i didnt really need the red gore because the base color was mechrite red with a heavy badab black wash, which was essentialy the same. I also picked up some baal red wash hoping to help blend in all the various reds. This is how i did it. After the mechrite red with the baal red wash,(or just use red gore) i painted all the areas where i thought light would hit with a watered down blood red. Then i did the edges where the blood red was with blazing orange. After that i used the baal red wash to make the colors look more "together" and after it dried i did finer higlights of blood red and the blazing orange, repeating the first two steps basically.

Using all these different reds really adds depth to the model.

Its about time i started working on my chaos again. Ive been playing necrons and have a whole fully painted army but ill save that for another time since this blog is dedicated to chaos. I learnde so many techniques and have made some cool looking models that some people have loved and hate, but i want to finish this army. I want them to collectively become something that i can be proud of and it wouldnt hurt to win a few "best painted"s here or there. So im starting from scratch. i want all my models to be of the same quality as the fig below. Ive learned that with painting red, orange is your best friend. It catches the eye, especially when on top of a dark red color. With this guy i used mechrite red with a badab black wash and blazing orange highlights. I think he came out suprisingly good. Of course when i paint the face it should come together

And my rhinos are going to be themed by each individual god. 4 rhinos, 4 gods. If anyone has checked out my blog a while back i talked about doing this. Its a chaos undivided army so it should work. To represent a god for each rhino. Im painting these goofy deamons on every one of them. It goes as follows:

Khorne (i cant figure out how i want to paint this one. Maybe a skeleton or a bloodletter i dont know. Any ideas?)

An this is just an example of how im doing weathering and highlighting on the rhinos as well as painting the lenses on the top hatch. I dont want to miss any details!

Ive been dying to do another primarch after reading the HH novel "Legion". The background for the Alpha Legion as well as Alpharius is just too good. So, after doing a little searching around the net i stumbled upon an interpretation of him made by James Craig. In my opinion his is the best representation of Alpharius ive seen. After some planning i knuckled up and began sculpting. This was my first time almost completely sculpting a model from greenstuff. It took about 2 weeks to do because i had to build layers for it to come out properly. Ithink i did ok on the face but i would like some feedback. Thats not the base im using and i have to add some stuff like the backpack to finish. I want a really nice resin base for this guy. Im gonna paint him first then worry about a base. I will keep updating him until hes done. Im using some extra greenstuff to stick him on to the base to take the picture.

I finally found my camera! Now back to the high quality pics. Anyway, about this guy. Hes 1.5 years in the making (with the right wings and head finally found thanks to the sanguinary guard set). I used all the painting techniques ive learned up to this point. It took me 2 weeks to paint(i worked on it every other day) and is by far my best painted model to date imo. Id appreciate any comments or tips to make the model better. I put alot of TLC in this and it is my favorite. I'll let the pics do the rest of the talking...

Army Update: Fun with Greenstuff + Representing The Four Chaos Powers

Slaanesh Rhino

With the Slaanesh squad done, its time to focus on the nurgle themed squad. I really wanted them to fully represent being gifted by grandfather nurgle without being too much, and still showing that its part of one army.

It was either buy the forge world nurgle upgrades or save cash and sculpt my own. The choice was easy. I sculpted nurgle-esque helmets on the regular troops as well as tubes connecting to their armour. For the aspiring champion i kept the same head and just sculpted a bloated stomach, and added the tube to the helmet.

My sculpting skills are getting a little better....

This guy is my favorite. Basically he has a rotted jaw and a third arm protruding from his regular arm. All the green stuffed parts have to be painted as well as the third arm.

And heres their Rhino. Just subtle peices of pus and bubbles here and there. I didnt want it to look too nurgley. I think i might paint the yellow chaos symbols on it but idk yet.

Just to give you guys an idea of what im doing with the army. Its an undivided army that represents the four chaos powers. Heres the other rhinos:

CSM: Other ways to make a competitve list

With all these new armies that have came out, chaos really has been struggling. Just looking at the typical "net" list you see the same thing: 2 Daemon princes w/ whatever(Mark of slaanesh, lash, mark of nurgle, warptime) 2 squads of berzerks and 2 squads of plague marines (or just 4 squads of PMs) and of course Oblits. This isnt the only way to win? Is it? Dont get me wrong it is a good list, but one thing i think it lacks is firepower. Oblits can only target 3 things per turn, with a max of three shots per squad if its not plasma cannons. The way ive seen people play nowadays especially with the space marine codexes, there is just spam coming out the (***) with autocannon dreds, speeders with missles, long fangs, preds, razorbacks, etc.
By the time their shooting phase is done all your rhinos are destroyed. And with psychic powers like null zone daemon princes are down to their last few wounds.

For awhile now ive been playtesting all the units in the codex to see what else works and what doesent. Heres what i came up with:

Plague marines are way too expensive and reg. csm are the better choice. Saves you tons of points for other units.

Daemon Princes are hands down the best HQ in the codex for their price. Imo, lords and sorcerers are just not that great. They usually only work in close range and they can get instant killed.

Chosen and possessed, i dont know. Sometimes their good, sometimes their not so good.

I think terminators are ok. They make good support squads, i just wouldnt give them any mark other then mark of glory just to save points.

I like the chaos dred. for only 125 you can get a twin linked las and missle launcher. I dont mind i going fire frenzybecause it only shoots at what it sees in front of it and i always keep it distant from majority of my army but put it in front of a squad of oblits. Just dont roll a 6. I havent yet.

All the other troop choices are too expensive. Noise marines would be great if they had an option to take meltaguns or plasma guns.

If your taking rhinos, always add extra armour

Spawn = No

I love bikers. A small squad of 3 with 2 meltaguns are great at controlling the opponents movements. Super cheap and very effective

Raptors are alright but i prefer bikes

Havocs are great. A 5 man squad with 4 autocannons will pretty much allways kill something a turn. I use that for rhinos, razorbacks (same thing), and storm ravens.

Dont need to say much about oblits. So i wont

I dont like Preds,vindicators, or defilers just because i think theres better options but ive seen people make them work.

Despite being expensive land raiders are cool, although i prefer giving them D.possesion so that they can fire all their weapons.

Basically, the landraider with termis stays back and shoots, until the enemy comes close enough for assault or if i need to contest an objective. As i said above the Dred, oblits, and havocs also hang back and shoot. Depending on waht the situation is, i will run the daemon prince up behind the landraider too just give the opponent something else to shoot at while i run up with the DP. the Bikers are there to rush up and more or less control what the ememy shoots at and destroy any vehicles in its way. Their also good for contesting. While all this is going on the 3 rhinos just capture objectives.

I dont have a rulebook so im not sure, but can i have abaddon and 3 terminators in a landraider and 3 squads of 2 oblits? Im asking because in the codex it says that terminators can have a LR as a dedicated transport which means it wouldnt count as a heavy (at least thats what i think) and i still can have my 3 heavy slots for something else. Also, if i can do this, can abaddon be with the dedicated squad and will it still count not count as a heavy?

Chaos Spawn conversion! My First Real Try With Green Stuff

I always wanted to try out spawn, but never did because i assumed they were horrible based on what other people told me. Well, i figured "you cant knock it till you try it" so i came up with these. This is my first attempt with modeling muscles, and i think they came out ok.

Shoulders, Neck muscles etc. Basically spawn are just blobs of muscles so i made sure that they were as noticable as possible. As far as arms, i dont know. Maybe some claws, or tentecles coming out of the top like the actual models, i have no idea. It took me 20 mins to make 4 of them so if they do good on the tabletop i might want to make 10 or 15 more of them. Has anyone had any experiences with spawn in the past?

CSM Terminators suck!..Oblits conversion

Yep. I just bought a box set of terminators. Built them and played my first game with them just to test out some units to make my list for the upcoming BFS tournament(already made my list). Obviously as you can tell by the title, terminators didnt work out. Had 2 squads of 3 termis deep striking with combi meltas. Big waste of points because i can only

try and kill 2 units and even if i do kill the intended targets, they have a bad habit of dying right after. Not to mention that there not even fearless! I didnt loose the game but i did loose my confidence in terminator squads in the CSM codex. So i decided to cut and convert them into obilts. This now makes the full 9 oblits i plan to use for the tournament(2000 pt tourney). Took IG leman russ side sponsons for the weopons on the arms. I have to add the heads but other than that there done. Am i being to hard on chaos terminators? Is there a better way to use them to there full potential?

The model itself was done by BCJ who then asked me to make Pre Heresy shoulder pads for it. The lighting isnt doing it justice but it he did a great job converting it. I think the shoulder pads came out pretty good! This Termie Captain is going to be his all in one Captain i believe( count as lysander, Belial, Whatever else) but im not too sure. Once he paints it ill try to post pics up.

So here is my Angron that im going to use for my CSM army. Basically my army is all red and undivided so all i have to do to make Angron fit in the army is paint a few pre heresy workdeaters in my squads, along with one of my rhinos as well. Angron has always been my favorite primarch which is why i made a daemon version of him ( check it out in the Khorne section of the labels). Its not painted but i used so many diffrent pieces to make this guy i honestly lost count. Its going to be painted pretty much exactlty like the picture above, but ill be adding more gore just to represent that this is when he turned to chaos.

When im done, ill show Angron with the rest of the army so it will all make sense.

Straken and co.

My IG army is based on the Peoples Liberation Army of China. Which is why the hands are painted white to represent the gloves they wear. The command squad is based off this picture, showing the different color uniforms to rep. rank ( medics are white, regimental standard is blue). I have about 60-70 guardsmen but im short on tanks. Got alot of work to do but it should be finished real soon. nNext time ill show everything i have so far.

...and this is my lucius im working on. The arms not painted yet beacause i want to freehand souls and faces on the shoulder pad. Im gonna add cables and wires to the back of his head too.

Almost done with the standard. I used the vostroyan version because its an awesome piece. Very detailed.

I also redid the staken conversion. It was too plain so i just added the plasma pistol and put the shotgun in his hand. check the other post for comparison. its definatley not as boring as the last one, but thats my opinion. What do you think?

Its been a while. Ive worked on alot of stuff lately but havent had the time to post pictures. I will , however, show this conversion i did for my imperial guard army. Yep.. Imperial Guard. Just to try something alittle different. I havent abandoned chaos, not even close. Just need to take a little break. I did this very simple conversion by using various bits from catachan and cadian box sets. instead of using a bionic arm i just painted a catachan arm as if it was robitic to get the same feel as it does in the codex.

Its a very close range kind of army list that im playing and i think it could work out. This is not a catachan army! Its all cadian with the exeption of straken because he is just to cool to not make him like the picture in the codex. Also if anyone has any list suggestions for a good assault/ close range IG list let me know! I really want to try this out.

Rogal Dorn and his Fists

For the past couple of weeks, ive been playing themed chaos lists: All khorne berzerkers led by Kharn, All noise marines and Lucius, etc. Ive got to say that playing Fluff themed list are so much fun and i recomend it to everyone. Although i do enjoy playing with competitive lists, the games are just not as exciting. Like a few days ago, i played my Noise marines led by lucius against an Imperial Fists army (also themed). I wont go into detail but towards the end of the game, lucius and his remaining noise marines charged into lysander and 10 terminators. the fight lasted 4 assault turns with lysander and lucius going head to head. Eventualy, lucius was killed by lysander, but not before dealing 3 wounds on the first company captain. It was truley an amazing game.
It just reminded me of how much fun this warhammer 40k really is. Replaying epic battles with great special characters. With this being said, my next project will be a Typhus zombie plague army( with the zombies being lesser daemons rule wise). So i will be updating progress on that, and expect a battle report of the Noise marine, Imperial fist battle!

Heres my second and final incarnation of kharn. I personally hate the origional model beacause the pose is too static and not very exciting. Also with this one i put a lot more time in painting it. This was originally supposed to be my HQ for the BFS tournament, but changed my mind at the last minute. I used a chaos havoc body as base, ork arm converted with an old chaos terminator chainaxe, a converted csm head with kharns bunny ears, and a csm khorne shoulder pad to top it off.

Question : What does twin-linked mean?

*stupid question* This is something thats been bugging me for a while now.

In a couple of games ive played my opponents always rolled two dice to represent something that is twin linked. I personally have always thought that twin linked means that you roll one die, re rolling it if it fails and accepting the second result. But some people tell me that you roll 2 dice with no re roll. Doing this means that there is a better chance of hitting the target than just re rolling one dice.

How do you play twin linked weapons? How are you supposed to play twin linked weapons?

Now that the BFS tournament is over, i can finally get back to posting. Hopefully getting new readers with some of the new content i will be putting up in the next few weeks. But why is there a space wolf codex in the picture?

As far as the tournament goes, i did very well and met some great people. My record ended up being 2-2(could have been 3-1 but my opponent in the last round took very long in doing his turns, i think on purpose, so we only got up to turn 4. I, without a doubt would have won that game) for day one. Only to lose in the bronze bracket in the first game the next day. It was a very close game though! we tied on the first 2 objectives, but he beat me by kill points. And above is my finished Angron, Primarch of the world eaters. It did more than turn a few heads at the tournament!

And to explain the space wolves codex, at the big apocalapse game that was hosted by Fritz on sunday, i won the headhunter award for killing 4 HQs. Not to mention that i only did it in 2 turns, with 8 obliterators! So i won a 20$ gift card to CBH. I didnt really want any models so i just bought the space wolf codex figuring it would be a good read. but as i was reading it, i became more and more inspired to make my own space wolf army/list.

Chaos wolves of course, so i made this guy as a wolf guard battle leader on a thunderwolf. Its a good change from playing CSM all the time. Plus, the conversion ideas are endless!

Since im using my chaos army to represent them, im making custom twin linked lascannons to put on my rhinos so they can represent razorbacks, but still remain rhinos so that i can use them when i play them as CSM. I think they came out great. Im probably going to be playing them as wolves for a little while just to get the feel of the codex.

Getting Ready For The Tournament

A sneak peek at my display board (took 10 minutes to complete) just got to finish the the hill in the back. Thats Where angron will stand. And my rhinos(the white striped one is not finished). The list im using is one ive never test played with or anything of the sort, so this will be very interesting. Im very confident in my list though. I wont post that(the list), or my finished army until after the tournament.

and a quick picture of my almost done Angron. The theme for my army and display board is based off the background i found in the CSM codex called THE DOMINION OF FIRE which was basically a very long war led from the eye of terror by Angron, primarch of the world eaters. its on page 36 of the CSM codex if anyone is interested. I will not be using berzerkers in the tournament though!

I recently got the new daemon prince. I personally did not like it at first, because to me it looked a little too "cartoonish". That all changed once i finally got my hands on one. Knowing that alot of people who bought the model are just using the standard model, i just couldnt resist converting it into my favorite character in the 40k universe: Angron, Primarch of the World Eaters. It is heavily converted to look exactly like the artwork above. Actually, im almost finished painting it so expect pictures in a few days. Also, anyone going to the tournament next week can see it there too!

Whats More Effective?

Lets just say someone (not me) who had a mostly assault army (berzerkers mostly), needed to replace a unit (defiler-150pts) in order to get some sort of unit that has access to heavy firepower...

1) Chosen

They have access to meltaguns, plasmas, flamers etc.. and can infiltrate or outflank (it may mean the same thing but i dont remember). It is an effective unit, especialy since the list that they have is a more straightfoward army. Having outflanking chosen with meltas would really make the opponent have to divert their forces.

2) Obliterators

Obviously their great, but since the person(not me)only have 150 pts to spend, that will only give him/her 2. Not enough in my opinion since they get killed by strength 8 and 9 weapons fairly easy.

3) Terminators

They dont really carry much besides combi meltas and heavy flamers, but they can definatly turn the game around if used right.

remember, they ony have 150 points to spend..

So what do you guys think is better? Is there a unit i missed? This person really needs help!

After talking to UltraBob about the list i was going to use for the tournament , i realized that even though the old list with was effective.. against the current "competitve" armys that are being used(space wolves,blood angels,imperial guard), it is lacking some well needed firepower. So i came up with this. I really want to try this one out. If successful, i will be using it in the tournament. I havent played against space wolves yet so their first on my list.

Definatley not as simple as the other list. I gave abaddon 3 terminators to accompany him in the landraider. Since majority of my units arent fearless, giving them icon of chaos glory is almost a must. The last thing i want is to have my troops get massacred in assault. The oblits are definatly a plus. The noise marines were really just to fill up the extra points. It also dosent hurt that they are fearless and initiative 5. They will probably just sit on the closest objective, or accompany another unit.

Here is my first set of marines with some yellow paint. It took me about 10 minutes to paint them all. I sprayed white krylon primer and just used a watered down golden yellow for a clean finish. i was going to wash them with badab black to make them dirty, but since this is pre heresy, i figured that they were fairly new.I Still have alot of work to do on them . There not detailed so i have to do that and their done. I have the arms but they are not assembled. Thanks to BCJ i have alot of cool old school weapons, like shoulder mounted plasma cannon and lascannons to keep the old school feel to them. One problem im having though is when i primed some of the models with the white primer, some would get a frosty look to them. Does anyone know how to solve or prevent that problem?

As of now i have 35 marines, 3 terminators a whole bunch of pre heresy bits ,and Dorn. I decided to lower my goal from 100 space marines to 50 so that i can have room for some tanks. As for bases, im using left over jawabases that i had from a while ago.

.. and this is my first commision. Its a squad of 10 black templar terminators with forge world parts added, they are very detailed and i have to get them done by october.

Hopefully i will have Rogal Dorn painted by next week

Not sure if the pictures do the model justice. Painting it will be the hardest part for me because i want the gold armour to come out perfect. I honestly dont know what primer color to start with or what golds(if any golds at all, maybe NMM)to use. If anyone has any suggestions let me know.

I dont have my camera right now but ill have pictures up by tuesday. Ive been planning this for a while now and its finally coming together . A pre heresy imperial fist army. I started with building and converting Rogal Dorn himself. He actualy looks just like the artwork above so it shouldnt disapoint. The model is finished and all i have to do now is paint it, which will most likley be the hardest part because i want it to look perfect. To accompany the primarch will be 120 space marines. Im making sure that they will be true to the pre heresy background down to every detail. So far i have none but if things workout well, i should have enough(at least 100). They will be quick and easy to paint since i practiced on a couple of models so i might have them done by october. Thats my goal, and i promise to not make another post without some real pictures!

1750 Khorne List

Ive finalized my khorne list.Played with it monday against Tau . I wont get into too many details but i will say that this list is 100% effective and may or not be my new competitve list. I won with a massacre. Playing it the way i did, made it a very straight foward list. I literally just moved the max 12 inches with all 4 of my rhinos and my landraider with kharn right into the middle of the table. Also moving my defiler 6 inches into cover and shooting the battle cannon. My opponent destroyed 2 of my rhinos on his turn, but it was already too late. By 2nd turn, everything was in assault range. The khorne berzerkers destroyed vehicles with ease, since they have plasma pistols and get the extra strenght from furious charge and have power fists. Kharn, well, hes kharn, the landraider moved 12 and kharn jumped out and assaulted. Killing 6 kroot out of 12 on the first try. Since the defiler gets 6 attacks on the charge with a strengh of 10, it is really hard to not kill something. I just moved 6 inches and fleeted another 4, putting me in assult range with a squad of tau suits that tried to shot me on his turn 1. I killed 2 out of 3 then he failed his leadership and i tried to catch him and did, thus killing the last one. From then on it was just a kill fest. kharn killed 2 squads of kroot and a squad of fire warriors. The berzerkers just assulted everything, and anything. When a massacre roll was given i just moved them as close to an enemy unit as possible. By turn 4, all that was left was a devilfish. The list was meant to be a "fun" list. With every move i just thought "what would khorne do?" any chance i got to assault with the defiler, i did. I wasted no oppourtunites and no time. With an army whos only long range weapons are 2 twinlinked lascannons and a battle cannon, you just cant waste any time getting towards the enemy. I never got to use the combi meltas, but their still good to have just in case.

What do you guys think?The main idea is to give my opponent alot of diffrent targets. They see kharn in a LR coming at them so they may focus on him, but then theres 4 rhinos full of berzerkers on the right side, if thats not enough, theres a defiler rushing towards you on the left! Anyway, heres the list...

Ive have been playing my "competitive" list consisting of the lash, oblit, plague marine spam about 4 times, and i am already getting tired of the whole idea. I mean, there are more ways to win games, and tournaments for that matter than using the same 3 boring units right? Although ive had a great amount of success with it, i feel that its time to branch out and see what else the chaos gods have to offer. With that being said, heres a cool 1750 list ive wanted to try out for a while(and i will on monday hopefully). Its Khorne with a capital Kill, Maim, burn! I dont even want to get into too much detail so here it is...

Whoa did i just do that? Basically kharn leads the charge in the landraider. All the rhinos rush up with him while the defiler scurries across the table laying down the battle cannon. Everything moves max 12 inches first turn popping smoke of course, then by second turn kharn and all his friends are in your face. "I am the Eightfold path, There is no Way off the Path. We must only go Further"

call it crazy but it just might work.

Tzeench Squad Almost Done + Updates

Finished(sort of) 5 out of 8 tzeench marines.

This is definatley becoming my favorite squad to work on. It took a long time to get these planned out and done. I went through my bitz box looking for some inpiration and i came across a couple of old bretonian bowmen. Knowing that i would most likley never use them again, i decide to cut them in half, leaving only the bottom part of the robes. The torsos of the marines fit perfectly on top of them so all i had to do was cut legs and get them to fit on the robes. Not an easy task and i lost many good marines doing so. I guess it was for the best(tzeench's plan) since i ended up with some very unique looking models.Their eyes are supposed to be glowing with energy. A personal favorite of mine is the one floating in air with psycic energy. I have one more of the robed guys to finish and 2 aspiring sorcerers that i will be converting as melta gun carriers.

* i changed the head of my nurgle themed aspiring champ to a berzerker head, and im working on my new sorcerer. I will be puttung alot of work into this guy, hopefully becoming my masterpiece(golden demon?) so ill be frequently updating progress.

I finished the slaanesh and nurgle themed squads. There is always room for improvement, but as of now they are finished. I based the nurgle squad off of "the cleaved" legion found in the codex CSM. They have oil and pus leaking from the joints of their armour. It was very simple and effective i belive. And heres a quick peak of the aspiring champ for the tzeench squad.

09 Pre Heresy Death Guard

Something a little different...
Heres my pre heresy Death Guard army I made last year. Took me a year and a half to get it done,and it was inspired by the flight of the eisenstein book. I put a lot of TLC in this project. From the jawabases to the scratch built special characters (captain Typhon ,Ignatius Grulgor and the primarch himself), i tried to capture every detail. I ended up selling the army and starting my chaos space marines. Unfortunatly, there is no other recordings or photos for this army besides these pictures and video from Black Matts blog and Fritz' youtube channel. Just thought i should share..

Abaddon the Despoiler

I found this abaddon in a bitz box i had.The body was already painted so i just added on from there.I based him on the "black crusades"picture. Did some minor conversions, but really tried to keep the paint job neat and detailed.I Also modified the talon of horus and the face a little to match the artwork. Dont plan on using him much, except 2500 pt games , but its always good to have ready just in case.Definatly not my best work but it will do for now. Im also working on his chosen, but thats for another time. Enjoy!

I finished 3 of 6 marines for the slannesh squad. The other 3 are pretty much going to be quick to finish since their isnt much added to them, besides of course the guy with the power scythe. For him i plan to do some O.S.L on the weapon. I also finished their accompanying rhino.

I just did some freehand on the top, and on the chaos banner on the side. It really stands out from the dark red color of the rest of my vehicles. Can you guess what the banner says?

Chaos army update

Time to introduce my chaos space marine army "The Red Legion". All are heavily converted and there is alot of freehand work. The army is not done, so i will be posting finished squads as well as w.i.p. You will see each squad, their rhinos, and anything that is currently being worked on. The first squad is Huron's berzerker retinue and their rhino. They need to be cleaned up but are pretty much done.

Painting Death Guard

Recently, i painted a squad of Death Guard for my chaos space marine army. I used the bruising effect i learned from Black Matt in order to get the rotted, corroded feel to the models(see his blog). I used knarloc green, rotting flesh, chesnut ink, mithril silver, and badab black.
Here's how i painted them:

STEP 1
Paint all armour knarloc green

STEP 2
Paint the trim mithril silver

STEP 3
Cover the whole model with a watered down chestnut ink(or any brown wash)

STEP 4
Use a water down rotting flesh and apply bruising on armour

STEP 5
Drybrush all trim areas with mithril silver

STEP 6
Wash all silver areas with badab black

Huron Blackheart: Underrated?

ok guys i played a game monday using Huron Blackheart. Hands down one of the most effective chaos lords in the codex. With 4 power fist attacks that can re roll hits and wounds(with a succsessful psychic test)and a built in heavy flamer he is truely a close combat monster(and pretty cheap at 170 points). the only problem however, is that like many chaos lords, one power fist does him in. Yesterday, i ran him with a squad of berzerkers(champ w/pfist, 2 plasma pistols)in a rhino. Mobility is always a plus, as well as being backed up by chaos marines that can hold their own, Huron is very tough. I assaulted a squad of terminators, and after 2 rounds of combat the terminators were bogged down by all the wounds and Huron killed the blood angels priest outright.Dealing 3 powerfist wounds! As well as being anti infantry, he also destroys most vehicles pretty easy. With this being said,i want to know why i dont see more chaos players feilding him? the dual lash is ALMOST useless now, since everyone runs mech armies and in order to get rid of these tanks,monsterous creatures,and independent characters, huron adds that extra punch to any chaos army.
